Things are sure getting crazy.

I've read a bit in this forum, how at least some if not more, are affected by what's happening in the economy.

Regarding this state of finances, there's been so much talk about how things are supposed to CHANGE.

Those in control, have told people that they will be taken care of, i.e., the government wonks will stimulate things for us.

Loans have been such a very big issue of all this, and no doubt key to business -- to building for sure. And with building in a slump, so goes the architectural field.

So I've got this guestion --- When they get active stimulating, exactly where is the money going to go?
Is it the governments intent to only stimulate the large public infrastructure jobs?

Do they even care about loans for the private sector?
I mean -- small business generates around 80% of the jobs, so wouldn't this be a great place to stimulate ---- that is, if throwing around money is the key?!

Well, I thought some of you might want to see what's being considered, and how your job may be affected.

This guy is talking about PROFESSIONALS, and a certain type of construction worker.
Maybe some of you interface, with at least some of this type of construction worker, as you figure this worker is competent, and has done great by the art you have created in the past.

By the way, this talking head, is a darling of one side of the political continuum.

Now there are many flavors of constructions workers.
And you can certainly find good throughout the entire spectrum.
As such -- wouldn't it be nice if they didn't single out or black list any one type of worker, especially when they are doing so for no good reason whatsoever?!!!

Anyway --- good luck to you professionals that share any traits with these construction guys.

I don't know ----- I get more than a little feeling, that these talking heads think of themselves as oh so smart.
Someone needs to tell me why the words MORE ON keep coming to my mind, when I think of these elite ones.

Come to think of it, the guy speaking in this video has that one trait, and likely thinks he's professional.
Let's fire him.

If it is highway money.... there is already a system in place. Here in Ohio you have to have a Regional Planning Agency, which really does not do much planning, but is an agency with representatives from all of the sponsoring jurisdictions. They create plans and apply to the state for highway funding.

There isn't going to be some sort of formula. Its BS. Most major bridges and highway projects are typically in urban areas anyway. There will as there is now be minority set-asides which are based on your population.

So before anyone starts grinding their teeth...... Rolling Eyes

There can also be money directed through the CDBG program. This supports historic preservation projects as well as blight and slum (building code). Many non-profits can apply for this funding. It comes down through the states and is allocated based on population .... typically. I think we might see an increase in CDBG monies... it would make sense anyway.

If you are smart, you should be marketing to the larger engineering firms. Many DOT's require a certain level of architectural contribution to highway work now. .... in case you haven't noticed. Also - you might find out they need architectural support for other projects (water treatment and waste water treatment plants - also considered infrastructure).

Architects... even small firms... can take advantage of the stimulus, but you need to be marketing NOW.... not once the projects are reported in the local paper. I have been doing CDBG projects since I opened my practice 16 years ago. I typically write the grant application for the client as a marketing effort.

BS.? ............ Okay I think I get it.

Reich's words were a kind of suppository that greased the skids of Rangel's mind, and Charlie was just letting nature take its' course.

Glad I learned to duck and cover way back when.

Even with the formulas are already in place - who really knows. Maybe we'll get double formuled. Laughing

FWIW - CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) money is typically called "formula" monies. I have done a number of facade renovations with CDBG monies - working for the local planning departments. I have also done a number of studies and ADA-related projects. All of which are small... but I am a one person firm.

FYI - most planning departments or economic development departments manage CDBG's - plus a lot of other programs. Highway money is going to pass through your local engineering (county or city).
