hi im designing a gallery along the river thames in greenwich, we are working with the site so somehow i need to relate it to the site as much as i could, along where my building will be designed is all metal sheet piling on the edge of the ground, (~im attaching the photo so u can see closely) so i have picked that element to bring it into my building an show it outside of my building and some interior aswel.. i thought of using concrete and making the pattern of the sheet piling on it.. or do u have any other suggestions that i could use?? i would be greatful its any1 gives me ideas:) thanks

You might replicate the texture, without resorting to steel or concrete: how about a wood wall with 4x4 or 8x8 or 12x12 timbers spaced 4 or 8 or 12 inches apart along it ?

| Timber may be a bit 'twee' for what looks like an ex-industrial site! The idea of replicating the rhythm of the river banks may have some merit - I can see the bank opposite uses a regular rhythm of (concrete?) supports. I think your strategy needs to go through another level of thought process. Will your gallery be viewed from the river, or will it normally be seen with the river as a backdrop? If viewed as a backdrop then the construction of the river retaining wall may be unimportant. |

at the concrete trade trade show days i have seen concrete mixes that can resemble that rusted metal look, that as the skin over some SABS would be killer i imagine, as well as internal EPS walls. _________________ The most necessary/useful piece of learning is that which unlearns what is untrue: 'evil'
