Rhinoceros v4 for sure if Hadid and Ghery have any pull on the issue, and in my opinion

It depends on the type of engineering you will be doing and what your clients are using. I am in Civil Engineering, we use AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microstation depending on the client. Generally all site design is done in AutoCAD and a few State DOTs we work with use Microstation for highway design.

ninalemon is right. it all greatly depends on the product you are designing. I also need to add the it also depends on the software your end customer is using.

For us in the automotive industry our customers uses UG and Catia, so we also use them for their outsource design and drawings.
