Sir Norm is probably the only obvious candidate for nomination. Though his factory in Putney churns out stuff, time and time again, generally ambitious, poetic, on time and budget.

He gets criticism because (a) I think people get jealous of his success and (b) because work goes under his name, his talented directors sometimes don't get their fair share of credit. No doubt there is a strong ruthless and ambitious core to the man, but at least he got where he is through sheer talent and hard work, rather than being a spoilt rich brat.

well, the architect that French television refers to as "Sir Foster" can look after himself.

totally agree with you - there are many British architects who are underrated.

is it the media ? the search for "star" status ?
