innov - i really love your last scan, though like you said it is a low reso, it easily dictates the surroundings in a farily simple and clean fashion. well done.

I am extremely glad that i stumbled upon this website, and moreso now that I have found this topic. I am a practicing architect in Dallas, Texas and only a year and a half out of grad school (syracuse). I recently purchased a home and soon realized that all of my 'college' decor really no longer fit into my adult home (i know some people have huge smiles on their faces now ha).

I recall viewing my classmates' portfolio's, sketches, etc and thought that there would be nothing better than to have a collection of art that i simply enjoyed and could appreciate on a daily basis. Before I left grad school I made it a point to sort of trade some drawings with certain classmates for works that i appreciated or that were just solid and they could part with.

Now I will have to rummage through my cd's to find my favorites so I may link them, but I am curious if there is a large portion of individuals that would be interested in a digital exchange? I would love to print out these digital scans, frame them with the persons' name, year it was drawn, place, etc and display it in my studio/office.

I hope there is a nice amount of excitement from this and I hope to obtain a nice collection soon. The barren walls are killing me! Thanks in advance for your questions/comments/suggestions.

Mike

thanks for the quick reply pc. great site and great artwork. i suppose the few things i prefer is to simply email an exchange as i have access to great printing. do the majority of these sites charge (i would assume so).

I suppose i am more interested in a free exchange on a more personal level...while i make great money i am still recently out of school and have so many bills to take care of! i know there must be individuals out there that woudl exchange because i would have no problem doing so. Thanks again for the site reference.

Yes I see what you mean, I guess many of these sites offer the extra service and the community only to sell their products -- still some of the features and the fact that these products are realy quite fair priced ontop the documented royality allowance is something you maybe would apriciate later.
Abiut the personal issue, I see no reson why that could not be achived just as well buying a specialised goods , --- there are a possibility to put for "sale" the original and profit the royality from digital copies, but the copy could easily be of better quality than the original beside the profesional finish make them attractive. Having a sales window don't make no harm how can it.

I find it just as personal with a print made profesional as one delivered without bill, --- I mean it's the picture not the trivial printing process that make the difference , or am I wrong ?

Fascinating. Nice sketches. Truly, the best way to experience a city is by sketching and sketching and sketching. I myself am very fond of sketching although many of my sketch books are no longer with me these years. Perhaps will also revive the hold hobby one of these days. Photography can be a nice hobby as well, and producing works of art from those. But to truly capture the spirit of a place, and for one's own enjoyment, nothing speaks more then one's natural sketches at the time of involvement in the architectural experience.

The first sketch looks like Coconut Grove (somewhere near Monty's on the Bay) the second looks like the Miami Arena (downtown) and the last resembles either Mary Brickell Village or Merrick Park (both in Coral Gables).

The sun does indeed effect the mood, however I would say it agitates many....Miamians are not known for their hospitality, unfortunately. Lots of stress down here...just take a drive! But the international flavor comes with many styles of living...we're definitely a hodgepodge of people...a literal "flat tower" of Babel (yes it's completely flat!).

At any rate...glad to see my hometown being touted as a place of interest. I do love it here...but I also wish we had some mountains and less hurricanes!

Bienvenido a Miami! Cool

Goodness gracious, mx2, long time no see!

I'm pee'd off today. Tony, the creative technician at work, has actually published a book of his travel sketches. He has been hawking his books around his friends and colleagues but, because I work on a different floor, he was selling the last copy just as I found out!! Guess I'll have to wait for the 'second edition'.

Ah, well, when I say published, I mean he had 25 copies produced at a local printers. So the USA market may be a bit ambitious!!!! He is thinking of doing another 25 sometime when he thinks the market can absorb them Wink

He does some nice colour rendered sketches with his watercolours but I expect colour reproduction costs would be exhorbitant for such low numbers.
