Architects speak with language just like you. We answer the design problem with spacial expressions and form. We work with light and surfaces, the resulting spaces and the kinesthetic component of its occupants. We build sculpture to a purpose. As professionals we provide design solutions wielding both science and art.

To secure society against terrorists is a fascinating problem for an architect because it embodies the challenge of simultaneously celebrating freedom while capturing and limiting risk or exposure to terrorists acts within fixed limits.

General questions yield answers of limited application and value. Specific questions yield answers of unlimited application and great value.

Which translates well into the built form as well...common-use buildings evoke limited reactions and contribute little value whereas specific-use buildings can evoke great emotions and provide a valuable service or function.

It is a challenge to create a structure that simultaneously exists to restrain human freedom and yet universally express said freedom. This gross over-arching concept cannot be expressed with timid features nor gestures but must tap into the human spirit at once and hold that spirit in suspension throughout the building. One must never forget where they are and where they are is not meant to feel like home. On the contrary...but ugliness is not the underlying concept here.
