Hello everyone,
I have a Rhino landscape topography converted to AutoCAD. (I have ACAD 2007.) The mesh lines are there, but do not appear as surfaces in ACAD. Is there a way to convert these to surfaces? I am trying to re-draw them with 3dmesh using the existing vertices, but this is difficult with irregularly shaped areas. Any ideas out there?

SAT file format saved out of Rhinoceros
why are you even using mesh?

| Antisthenes---I do not have Rhino--only a Rhino file saved as .dwg from CD. Am trying to do an animated walk-through of a landscaped area in ACAD. The buildings are there, but the landscape is only lines. Am thinking this is impossible and am wondering if a "mesh to solid" software is necessary, since I need to attach materials (grass/paving) to something and the mesh lines from Rhino are unusable as is....i.e. I would create a series of meshes, convert to solid and "union" them. Is this clear or am I leaving something out? Thanks for your input. |

Rhinoceros is free, download it 25 saves full function
i am not seeing it maybe you can do a screen capture?
do you have the 3dm file? was it all created in Rhinoceros?
or do you only have topo lines that are segmented like a dxf?
there is a terrain modeling plugin ' terrian'
have you considered using rhinoceros w/ or w/o bongo for the walk/fly thru?

| Antisthenes----Thank you for the info on "terrain"---I am looking into it and think it might be the best solution. How do you get free Rhino? Yes, I believe this was created in Rhino, but I would rather not spend the time right now learning a whole new program...that's for another day. See attachment---it is a jpeg of a small portion of the model showing green lines--they are actually splines--of a gently undulating grassy area. I think using "terrain" to turn this back into a mesh which could be rendered would be the best solution, since it is the inability to render this model in ACAD that is giving me problems. |

if you know acad you will know rhino in 2 days time it has the most shallow learning curve and also the most powerful creation features, scripting, and plugins not to mention the 24/7 support.
what i do is the stepped topo look
good luck what ever you do to get your desired result

why is it necessary for you to go from rhino to cad?
adt might be required to show a surface in cad
