Yes I am still using version 3.0
But since I use rarely i have forgotten several basics.
A. how do I create a "plot file" t send to a reprograhics shop...?
B. yesterday was able to Save As JPEG. Today I cannot ...get message "XTNL unable to load : Write JPEG". How do i correct this.
I reinstalled OS 8.1.
C. Also, I set commands to my preference and then they disappear... is this due to a restart vs. shutting down.?

These days, I send pdf files to my plotting service. You can do that through the print dialog box ... "save as pdf"

I think he is on OS8.1, so he doesn't have that option. If he can print a file to a generic postscript printer, he can use Acrobat Pro to create a PDF, or he can transfer that file to an OS10 machine and use Preview to create the PDF. |

Yeah, I used Acrobat Pro in OS8 for making PDF's. I think Illustrator and Photoshop may be able to open the PS print files as well for another option. If the service bureau has Acrobat Pro to print from, maybe you can plead with them to take PS print files and open them directly into Acrobat.

One option that might work is to download a program called "print to pdf" and then you can create a pdf file that you can send to the printer. We used that before we moved to OS10.

You have to go under the edit manual to plot holding down the option key to get a dialog box.
You must click the "Spool to Disk Box"
On 6-20 of the manual it says:
Spool to Disk allows you to send a drawing to a disk rather than a plotter. The information being sent to the disk will be written as a special file. This file can be placed on a disk and sent to a plotting service for plotting. The spooled file will allow you to use PD Spool or a terminal package, such as MacTerminal or Red Ryder, to send the doccument to a plotter."
I never used the feature much.
You might also try when you print to a laser printer and when the "print" dialog box comes up select "file" instead of "printer" in the "Destination" box in the upper left corner. This will allow you to save the print as an eps file and some other ones which may also get you what you want. Hope this brings back the memory of how you used to do it.
