Hello,
We're a small architecture firm running PowerCadd 6.2.1 on iMac G5's. When PowerCadd saves a file we randomly get an error message which reads:
"Can't delete swap tempSpec file." with an OK button.
When you click OK, a new file is created with the time appended to the file name.
Sorry if this is an old issue which may have been addressed a while back on this forum, but we can't figure it out. Any help is greatly appreciated!

This is an old thread, but I started having this same problem a week or two ago. When I save a PC7 file, I get a message "Can't delete swap tempSpec file." The folder into which I am saving fills up with these files, which I later delete. If I restart the computer, things go fine for a while, then this behavior starts up again -- I am not sure what is causing the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
It may have started when I upgraded to OS10.4.11 or when I updated to PC7.04...
regards,
patrick

I've seen it too. At first I thought it was because my HD was nearly full, but I've fixed that, and still see it from time to time. _________________ Rob

| This isn't necessarily a 100% solution, but I was able to drastically reduce the occurrence of this problem by turning Norton AntiVirus' "autoprotect" feature on our file server OFF. It seems that the autoprotect process "grabs" the swap file to scan it, and it's not always done by the time PowerCADD is ready to delete it. Any other software that constantly scans files could possibly interfere in this way. There may be other reasons, but this is the best one I've been able to find. |

Interesting. Could Spotlight's constant scanning for indexing be responsible? _________________ Rob
