Hi everyone, I am hoping to get some help identifying the name of the design of my new home's entry door. More for curiosity than anything else I am interested in what design influences I should play up. My home is a contemporary quad-level built in 1975. Thanks!

Danika - welcome.

There might be a name out there for your particular door style, but its not really important. The "style" as you stated is best described as builder contemporary. Every door manufacturer in the 60's and 70's had this door in their catalog. If I was pressed - I might call it a contemporary 3 panel door.

As far as replacing the door to fit the design of the house, we need to see the whole house. But you also need to ask yourself what you want the door to do..... Do you want some privacy at the front door (solid door with frosted glass) - do you want the door to make a bold statement (Color - wood species) - do you want the door to hold up to weather better than your current door (Fiberglass - maybe a storm door). You might want to visit a local home remodeling store that has a showroom and you can see the variety of doors and sidelights possible. They can install the new unit and provide the door hardware of your choosing (locks - levers - hinges - kickplates - peekholes).

Hi there, thanks for responding. We jokingly refer to our house at the Brady Bunch house ... very similar in layout and style. Our house has retained a lot of its original design influences which are very clean, simple almost Asian inspired lines. We are trying to carry out an Eames era / mid century design throughout the entire house, right down to our original Heywood Wakefield furniture inherited from my Grandmother. Thanks for the advice! Cool

Danika - You might check out the mid-century work of Neutra when he started mixing natural materials in his designs. You might get some ideas for your entry. Taschen has published some very nice and inexpensive books on some of the mid-century modernist. ($8-$10 each depending on the seller).
