Help! We are building a new home and due to the pitch of the roof, our front porch overhang is now 2 out from the poured concrete porch!! I would like to use some white vinyl railings but I believe that would look a little ridiculous 2 feet in from the overhang. ANY AND ALL HELP/SUGGESTIONS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS!

Not only is it not unusual, it's a good thing. The entire purpose of a roof is to sheild the sun and rain and an overhang does just that. The rain alone is an issue in that the water will shed away from the slab/floor...

The longer the overhang the more protection it gives your house from the weather. 24" overhangs are fine for a porch area. I have designed trusses for 48" overhangs just to shade the windows for the sun and reduce the cooling cost.
