| I am adding a small 6'x6' covered front porch to my 30 year old home. My question is how do I tie in an opposing gable roof to existing gable roof? |

This question is a little bit complicated for a quick answer.
The best thing you can do is purchase a book on wood framing. I recommend Graphic Guide to Frame Construction by Rob Thallon.
Or you can check out the Hometime (that PBS show) website for all sorts of introductory examples. They have a page on tying a new roof to an existing roof
The other possiblity is to contact a local architect who does residential work and purchase an hour or two of his/her time for consultation. You will probably need to obtain a building permit, so you might more than simple consultation. But this would be a simple one sheet drawing with a foundation plan, plan with framing notes, and two elevations (one side and front). |
