I don't have a large scale printer, and usually send my files to a print shop for architectural D size prints.
I have found a new print shop in a different location, and was considering printing some of my drawings thru them.
Unfortunately, they are unable to accept my typical prn or plt files.
I would have to create and send the drawings in pdf format.
I have used pdf converters before, but nothing seems to have settings for printing architectural D size drawings.
Can anyone suggest a pdf creator which can handle this task?
I would like to know before buying software which doesn't meet my needs.

Are you Windows-based or Mac-based?

Do a search for PDF Factory Pro. I have been using it for about 2 years now and I am completely satisfied with it.

Best of all, it is a free download.

It installs itself as a virtual printer, so you will still go through the print motions as normal, you will just choose the PDF Factory Pro option as your printer.

I have printed D and E size sheets without any problems.

another way to "cheat" is to install a plotter driver (ghost) and plot (size D) to PDF...takes a little work to setup the lineweights correctly though.

The best solution is Acrobat Pro by adobe. It is produces a vector format files unlike Acrobat standard which is raster format. The vector format allows for large scale printing without loss of resolution.

You will finding sending and printing PDF files much more useful than PLT files (where the configuration files need to be perfect to get the right output). With PDF files you have a perfect compact record set which already contains all the correct line weight and color components and which can be sent to clients or print shops extremely easily.
