I'm involved (as a volunteer) in a project to apply triple bottom line accounting to the collective strategic decision-making process of a local non-profit organization with several hundred members and assets in the low millions of dollars range.
Triple bottom line accounting is a sustainability-oriented approach of going beyond just cost accounting to accounting equally in the categories of environmental factors, social and cultural factors, and financial factors - summarized as planet/people/purse.
I've been working with these concepts for years, and have accumulated many references that are generally either quick summaries, or else devastatingly extensive institutional compilations (usually from Australia ). Preferring not to reinvent already-existing wheels, I wonder what else is out there that might provide this organization with a reasonably robust yet not-overwhelming cookbook for doing their own project-specific triple bottom line options assessment? |
