W had a thread on this a few weeks back.

There are practically no worthwhile architecture ebooks in the public realm. There may be a few people have illegal copies of, needless to say they can leave themselves open to legal action if they wish to distribute them, entirely their choice. Wink

Actually i am new here.

I am learning Autocad, and almost through. When i was learning autocad my friend who taught me ( he is autocad draftsmen with an architect) gave me drawings and i would replicate these drawings ( just to see how comfortable with autocad command). I was able to replicate them.

Than i met another friend, who is an architect, he told me it is good you know autocad but what is use when you dont know and understand what are you drafting?

He wants me to join his team of freelancers.

He wants me to know about various symbols used in drafting like, what kind of hatchline is used for wood, for brick wall, for stone wall etc. How do you represent a door, window.

HE wants me to know how to make section, elevation etc.

I have bought a simple books called Basic Engineering Drawing .

Any how can anyone point me in right direction i.e. is what kind of books should i go for and where, some resources on net etc.

P.S I am loving drafting building plans and want to get into drafting big time and also into 3d

descriptive geometry, orthografic projections, deducing the third projection, sectioning(involved with hatching and so on) ,isometric drawing..

about the hatching symbols..u cant get it from:
draw-hatch-pick points-swatch-ansi

One of the classics is Ching's Architectural Graphics. It is affordable, comprehensive and nicely put together and I often use it for junior staff our introductory architectural drawing courses.
