RALLY AGAINST THE WHOLE FOODS GARAGE GIVEAWAY!

This TUESDAY, MARCH 7 at 7 PM at the EWEB Meeting Rooms

THE SPEAKERS:
Introductory messages from:
Betty Taylor, Eugene City Councilor
Eben Fodor, Planning consultant and author

And speakers:
Mark Gillem, Asst. Professor of Architecture, University of Oregon
Paul Nicholson, Sustainable business advocate and former City Councilor
Gavin McComas, Local natural foods store owner
Stephan Meyer, the Permaculture perspective

David Hinkley,  FoE board member, will close with directions for individual testimony at the upcoming City Council public forum.
Moderator - Kevin Matthews, FoE president

Why is the city fast-tracking this project? WHAT'S THE RUSH??
Let's plan before we build - No more downtown mistakes!

COME ON TUESDAY AND SHOW THEM HOW YOU FEEL!
Your presence makes a real difference, every person counts!

Please forward this e-mail to interested friends and encourage them to get involved!

Is a $9 million parking garage the best use of the citizen's money?

Should we use our money to subsidize a private national chain that might destroy favorite local businesses (our health foods stores)?

This project could be a "foot in the door" for other even more costly downtown subsidies for gentrification projects that may end up standing empty like others-are these what we envision for our downtown?

Is another garage the best "gateway" into downtown, on the planned "great civic street" 8th Avenue?

Is this how we do sustainability?

What's best for the whole community?

The program will help educate people to provide testimony to the Eugene City Council during their public forum and public hearing on Monday, March 13, coming up soon!

With enough public input, the City Council could stop the garage and get the community breathing room for more open-ended discussion and planning forums for a better vision of downtown.

Please come Tuesday!
