I am looking for some good farm house architectures for a house that needs to be built in a 6 acre land (near Bangalore), which is 40% cultivated. The house should have 2 rooms, a hall, 2 bathrooms and a kitchen. Any pointers on how to go about it?? What materials could be used and what best way it could be designed?
Regards,
Shanthi. |

It depends on your budget and what you would like to get out of the design.
If budget was not a limitation, you could go to town with it.
If it is, then pay proper attention to existing buildings in your region, obviously climate should be considered and local labor. What are the local contractors able to build with? Having some modern steel and glass design may not work in your region if no contractor that's available has ever used those materials before.
Bangalore, isn't there a medical college nearby? So maybe it's not a problem. So it depends on what you would like to see there on your land.
However you could use local materials in a way that could be very modern or contemporary. Or stick with indigenous/ traditional architecture that would probably be more appropriate for the climate. There are many ways of interpreting a design. _________________ Gerard Lee Architects
