all a concept is, is the basic idea behind your design. A simple explanation would be if you are building a museum of dance or dance studio or something, your concept might be movement. If you can look at your design and say..."my building is about----" and fill in the blank, that is your concept. Some people are very into concepts, others aren't. Your concept can have to do with the history of your project, the way something is put together, anything. _________________ Architecture starts when you carefully put two bricks together. There it begins. |

every project is unique, each project you handle provides new potential and motivation to encounter it from a different approach, you could be affected by something you saw and reflects in your design, or even the courses you take during the period of your design can generate certain feelings and ideas that help you build a concept.
personally, i handle every project without looking back at my previous approach or ideas. i reach through digging the potentials of the project to come up with an appropriate concept.
but then you could have certain characteristics that are common in all your designs, like echo-sensitivity in all your designs, or a sense of regionalism. some people reproduce forms again and again, like collegues who include alot of curves in every plan, or those who stick to linear spaces. _________________ "SAMO" |
