Our company is strictly focused on development of home designs. We are looking to purchase CAD software and are confused by the many options. Key features that we are looking for in a CAD package: construction drawings, elevations (preferably automatically generated), ability to import objects such as windows and doors from manufacturer's web sites, ability to generate "hand-drawn" renderings, automatic generation of details.....

Any suggestions?

Those suggestions include a very general CAD application, and a very general modeling/rendering application.

I'm not sure that really addresses the question about particular home design software.

With regard to that question: I'm not sure you're necessarily on the right track by asking for all that in just ONE software package. You may find a better toolkit overall by seeking a small set of software which works together well, each doing its own task well, than by trying to find one super-jumbo swiss-army knife.

There's a lure of simplicity in having one application to do everything. But in practice, most all-in-one apps incorporate many shortcuts.

If you could prioritise your needs a bit, it could help focus on where to look deeper.
