1. Can anyone refer me to sites that might discuss details of designing an elegant combined bathtub/shower?
2. Most 'fancy' bathtubs (built into a base with ledges all around the tub perimeter) are tubs only (usually a jacuzzi)---the shower usually a separate structure placed elsewhere. I'm having the shower and the bathtub together and would be interested to see how professionals with experience in such matters solve the problem of the pooling of water on the inner ledges when showering. The tub encasement, walls and floor will be marble. All pictures I have seen of elegant bathrooms with spa-like tubs have had the shower separate. We have worked out a scenario which I think will be OK, but both the architect and the marble man are accustomed to tubs installed flush into a corner (an adjoining long side and short side), and consequently it's a first for them to have a ledge on all four sides of the tub. I don't want the bather to feel shoved into the corner---which is clearly the best arrangement for the shower......Am I making a big mistake by trying to put a shower into an encased tub? The reason is, of course, lack of space.
3. I want the outer ledge to be 15 cm.(the other three ledges are 10cm.)---to serve as a sidetable for the bather (wineglass, magazine, etc.) and a place where one can sit before entering or upon exiting the bath/shower. People tell me it will make it difficult to get in and out of the tub/shower because it will be difficult to step over. I wanted it to be 20 cm., but there is only room for 15cm. anyway---doesn't seem to me to be enough to make a difference between that and stepping over a regular tub edge. What do you think?
