i recently received an email from an architect who threatened me with a libel suit for calling his penthouse 'grungy'.
as far as i am concerned- 'grungy' implies a certain sense of bohemia; a hip, non-conformist style.

the local newspapers' called the conditions of the penthouse 'no better than a construction site' and the architect in question- oddly enough, had no problems with that. "In my job, I deal with construction sites all the time so to be living like this is nothing unusual," he says
he further plays it up by making witty quips like-( translation : 'Severe lack of vitamin M', Ed says] in response to the article pointing out the blase manner he has apparently adopted to in his apartment.

in a job where your works are subjected to public as well as peer review this architect comes off as highly intolerant. to bristle at a label that would have been a confirmation of cool and attempt to initiate legal action over a perceived criticism smacks of high-handedness and a blatant disrespect for public opinion.

i decided to take down all photos and references to the penthouse-in its entirety- from my website upon receiving the first email from the architect. his continued annoyance and dogged insistence on pursuing legal action against me has made me regret my attempt at self censorship; hence the comment on my website:

knee-how Ma!

i think your totally in the right on this one.
and i dont think you should change any aspect of you criticizm
public critique has no strings or rules to follow as far as i'm concerned
i dont think that this architect would get very far in filing something like this.
