Remember in President Bush's speech to Congress a few years ago where he called Iraq, Iran and North Korea part of an 'Axis of Evil?' Well, now we're seeing why...and it isn't pretty.

Colin Powell made a presentation where he said Iran could be building nuclear weapons, and was seeking a delivery system. Now the media is doubting the intelligence, saying it may have been unverified. My question is this: do you want to find out the hard way?

Do you trust the Islamic terrorist regime in Tehran to responsibly manage a nuclear weapons program? Do you trust them to not sell a nuclear warhead to the highest bidder...say, a group like Al-Qaeda?

We should identify the targets and destroy them. Then we won't have to worry whether the nuclear plants were for electricity or not.

the problem with the 'highest bidder' theory regarding iran at this point is that they only have enough equipment to maybe produce enough material for 1 crude weapon a year...

i doubt they would be willing to sell off the only warhead they have...

this is not to say they should be allowed to continue with their program, which by the way they have it set up would only indicate they are interested in pursuing weapons... due to their large resources of uranium they hardly have a need to reprocess uranium other than to enrich it to the point of weapons grade...

and of course we can't sit around and wait until they have actually completed a weapon b/c that changes the way in which the negotiations go... a good example of this would be look at how south africa was resolved so quickly v. how long it is taking to resolve the issues in north korea

There is no evidence to back up the allegations against Iran - none.

Donald - like Powell - wants to see Americans die so that they and Bush can follow their own agenda.

This just in...RH doesn't want anybody to believe that Iran has been producing weapons grade uranium....hmmmm...I wonder why?

CNN would like you to believe otherwise:

I wonder what kind of real evidence one would find if the Iranian Government would let the "Inspectors" into this fcility:

well not the allegations of a missle system...

but iran has openly admitted to taking part in enrichment activities... which although they claim are for a peaceful purpose are not necessary for a peaceful nuclear program...especially not in an uranium rich country like iran where the fuel is plentiful and cheap...

so the enrichment activities they have been taking part in would indicate since it is not for economic reasons it must be in the pursuit of a weapons program... that seems like the only logical answer

Yes RH, war does come at a cost and we are in the midst of WWIV...the war against terrorism, and that war has by no means been won. There are still thousands of Islamic Terrorist out there who want to make their mark by killing as many Americans as they can, and there are still terrorist/rogue regimes who are hell-bent on developing the weapons necessary to bring America to its knees. For instance, can some of you rocket scientists out there tell me why the country with the second-largest oil reserves in the world (Iran) needs nuclear reactors?

"rocket-scientists"

now that's where you have a problem.

of course Bush is going to attack Iran - he always intended to. It is no secret. Nobody will be surprised, nobody.

the cost of the """war""" ? with an attack on Iran, at a wild guess it will creep up to $10bn a month.

lucky you so rich, ain't it ?

No RH, its The World that is now being notified that it is just going to have to accept the Mad Islamic Mullahs of Iran into the nuclear club, the club comprised of nations with atomic weapons...or act with US.

There is no longer any doubt that Iran is building these weapons, and the world along with RH just seems to yawn and ignore the situation. This is a country of Islamic radicals. It could easily be said that Iran with nuclear weapons means terrorists with nuclear weapons. The preemption concept won the day on Iraq. There is no longer any danger from Saddam or from his continued development chemical, biological or nuclear weapons.

But in the case of Iran it looks like the appeasement crowd may well carry the day. The west just may be content enough to sit back and watch Iran develop nuclear weapons. Can you tell me you feel comfortable with that?

IF there ever was a time for any kind of UN intervention, now would be the time to step up to the plate...before W2 has his way with it.

My first job as a draftsman was with an E/A company in Chicago, Sargeant and Lundy Engineers, who desinged Nuclear and Coal powered Power Plants...it was a company with many nations working there, sort of like a mini United Nations...many of them being Iranians and Iraqians...wonder if any of them are back in Iran now producing those Nuke Plants for their own power plant systems???...not a chance.

Donald, Bush always intended to attack Iran.

Nobody is interested in the tired rehashing of totally unsubstantiated accusations.

You might like continuing to wear the orange jumpsuit that the Department of Designland Security put you in when your psychoses get too much - but at least take the bag off your head.

Yes Iran must be the next stop on the axis of evil.

The New Yorker magazine reported yesterday that the United States Military has been scouting substantial locations for bombing in Iran. Apparently on the list of targets: nuclear, chemical and missile facilities. This supposedly has been going on since last summer, and the number of sites is somewhere north of 36...a substantial number at that.

Good news! It's nice to know that we haven't been put to sleep on this by the appeasement faction of the Democratic party.

In some ways, Iran represents a greater threat than either Afghanistan or Iraq did. We simply cannot allow the power-hungry, psychotic mullahs of Iran to possess a nuclear weapon. They either already have such weapons or are very close to bringing them online. They have also said they intend to keep and bear nuclear weapons. In addition, they express their hatred of the United States on a regular basis.

They're also not giving them up. We've tried diplomatic channels. We should identify the locations of the factories, reactors and stockpiles and bomb them back to the stone age (where they really already are, except for the weapons sites.) One nuke in the hands of an Islamic terrorist could annihilate an entire American city.

Do you really want to take that chance? For some reason, too many of our fellow countrymen do. Remember, sometimes you have to make a decision on the basis of what might happen if you fail to act. Those are the truly difficult decisions to make. This is one of those times. Shocked

Designland Security... hey, that might be me!

I have to admit, the fascistic attitudes and rhetoric of Donald's post immediately above, its utter failure to even attempt to value human life equally, and its naked exhortation to unprovoked violence, cause my virtual gaze to twitch in the direction of that virtual rack of virtual orange suits.

But if you still think the dialog is worth the damage...

Now the Pentagon is denying there are U.S. Military operations in Iran. It had been previously reported that we were scouting targets to blow up. Doh!

Not so, says the government. Why not?

Where do you get all these ridiculous web sites, Donald?

(That's a rhetorical question - I don't really want to know. Of course there're enough junk pseudo-news sites scattered around the Internet to waste your time forever.)

Lets get back to the topic of IRAN?

Whether you agreed with the war in Iraq or not, let's talk Iran. At what point would you say that the United States should use military action against Iran? Not military action to change any regime, but military action to destroy their nuclear capabilities? Put aside the partisan politics and the "war is not the answer" nonsense. Do you want an Iran with nuclear weapons? If so, then the argument ends there. If you do not want Iran to have nuclear weapons, at what point does the United States step in and do something about it?

Maybe Israel will do us a favor and take care of the problem. There's precedence for that, you know.
