| I just upgraded to PowerCADD 6.0.9 and running OS 10.3.2 and as of yet cannot figure out how to control or change the hilite color of the tool currently selected in the tool palette. Can anyone tell me where this info is in the book??? |

| Sounds like he's asking about the highlight color in the toolbar itself. I don't know where to go to try to change that. I know that the highlight mode for the snap indicator was up for discussion at one point. |

Rick,
First, try to remember that we like things they way we are used to them, and when things change it doesn't 'feel right' for a while. I try to keep an open mind and believe there was a reason for the change.
In the past, highlighting of the snap indicator and tool palettes was done with the text selection highlight color. I thought this was just terrible. Most people ended up using one of Apple's standard pastel colors, which work fine with text, but not with tool palettes and the snap indicator. The problem was that it was hard to see, particularly with the snap indicator.
The snap color in PowerCADD is fixed at red, so it makes sense that the red snap indication in the drawing is matched by the red in the dynamic snap indicator. And you have the choice of font styles and sized in the dynamic snap indicator, so this looks ideal to me.
On the tool palette highlighting, PowerCADD is now doing the same thing that Apple does with its buttons, and they are darkened when highlighted. Again, I think this is ideal.

I love so many of the new features in this version, especially the new dynamic snap indicator and the red color, but what I am asking about is the hilite color of the tool icon in the tool palette when that tool is the selected tool.
In the last version of PowerCADD I was able to set up my preferences so that the tool that was currently selected was hilited red, which made it so easy to tell with just a glance at the tool palettes which tool was the active tool.
With PowerCADD 6.0.9, the selected tool is a graphite or platinum color, which is so close to the background color of the tool palettes that it makes your eyes search up and down the tool palette to try and find the selected tool, so what I am asking is, is there some control or preference choice somewhere that will allow me to make the tool icon of the currently active tool green, or red, or purple, etc....

Rick
You are describing something I have never heard of before.
I know Andy used to use One-Click palettes to set up multicolored buttons that functioned in PowerCADD. But it's news to me that you could change the color of the selected-tool hilite. |

| Up to Powercadd 4 (or possibly 3) you could select a colour for the tool highlight. We had it set to red rather than the current grey and it did marginally help productivity. |
