I would describe the colors as bright hues of pastels or color washed.

gpgma is right. In my Caribbean Cruises I’ve only see color washed houses. I don’t know what kind of paint they are using, but all those pale colors were very calm and exotic.

That's not accurate at all...the contemporary interpretation of carribean "feel" is to paint pastels...micmicking the faded colors of older buildings that were originally painted as bright as possible. A good source for inspiration is this book:
