| This new construction house sits on a 30' setback and therefore the hip roof is not visible from the front view of the house- close to road and not on corner lot and lots of vegetation. The roof disappears and so the house/roof from the front view looks awkward and mainly flat. The hip roof is there as a way to meet the height codes and the pitch of the roof is 6.0. Please see attachment. We tacked up a dormer but this looks awkward as well. Any suggestions or ideas aon how to resolve this dilemma? |

I don't see any attachment but having worked 12 years here in south florida, I can tell you the best roof is a hip roof when it comes to hurricanes. Adding the dormer just exposed you to more damage and possibly losing your entire house. Even your insurance rates will go up if you no longer have a hip roof. That said, I'm not sure (without seeing the picture) why is it so important to highlight your roof. I would personally want to improve the facade or landscape before a roof...as the job of the roof is to keep the rain out. But I still would like to see this roof...
