Would be interested to know from professionals, interns, and students alike, if a book on detailing of architectual/construction projects, is of interest.
Propose a discussion about detailing, and not replication of standard detiails, and a litany of historic details for reuse.
Would be a discussion of the intent, content, and production of details. Hope to breed understanding of process, and the values of both manual and CAD drafting-- and how BOTH can contribute to better drawings and details.
Not planned as controversial book, but merely to show and discuss case studies, good drawings, and provide insight and understanding of the principles of detailing, the rationale, the techniques, and the value to the end-users.

Would you be the one writing such a book?

I'm interested in it. I find that there are way too many architecture books out there without much in the way of technical detail. I don't find much use for a book that shows only a few attractive photos of a building. Leaves me wanting to know how a certain effect was achieved or whatever.

Like you said, the architectural detail books that do exist tend to recycle traditional details ad infinitum. I would really be interested in something that studies select contemporary buildings in detail. A discussion of the process involved in the development of details would be great, too, of course.

Hope that helps.
